Bobbi's Paper Trail: Kits Are Kool in Beautiful Blues

Today I am starting a new series called "Kits Are Kool". At some point, I will be doing videos to show you how I take an existing kit and make alternative designs. Why would we want to do alternatives? Well, for one thing, it allows you to use some of your existing supplies and stamps, to create even more than the kit intended. Let me show you.

The first photo shows you the Beautiful Blues Kit that just came out on May 6th. You can find it in our Online Exclusives category. This kit comes with enough supplies to make 9 gorgeous cards, with matching envelopes. You get 9 card bases, 3 of each design, envelopes, a stamp set, a Ink Spot in Night of Navy, a clear block, a roll of sticky tape and a small package of dimensionals. There's also a package of blue adhesive dots. The kit comes with directions and clear photos to make the cards as shown.

I cut apart 8 of the card bases (I kept one as is to make one card like the kit). Each of the card bases has a design on the front and back, so by cutting them apart, you now have the potential for 18 cards instead of 9. If you then cut some of the card halves again, you now have the potential to make even more. The first card in this photo shows 2 scraps left over that I put to good use. The designs don't have to "match" when they are laid out in a staggered pattern. That's the beauty of it; anything goes because it's an original that you designed yourself.

In the picture below, I even dared to use a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock to make it pop.

As you can see, there's a lot of reasons to try out our kits. Not only are they beautiful, you can make as many alternatives as you like, using supplies you already have on hand. I always need a lot of birthday cards, so when I make alternatives, I try to make more of those.
