I know I've been missing in action lately. I have no excuse other than I've been working on craft fair projects for my first fair this October. The days always seem to slip by but today, I took time out to play with some new products from our September-December 2023 Mini catalog. The catalog goes live on September 6th, and there's so many great products to get. My pre-order arrived weeks ago, but I chose to make this card with my 2nd pre-order.
I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock, measured at 4 x 5-1/4. The Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks are so much fun to use. I wanted to use the fall mask (inside the set) and my thought was to just have a very subtle background of the leaves and acorns, so I used a very light touch with Crumb Cake ink. Then I placed the sunflower mask over the background.
I began blending the sunflower leaves with Crushed Curry, then added Cherry Cobbler toward the center. I went a little farther out with the Cherry Cobbler than I had wanted to, but I like the look just the same. The center of the flowers is a bit dark because I used Early Espresso, and I probably should have used a heavier hand with Crumb Cake. You can barely see the detail in the flower's centers, but I'll know for next time. I used Old Olive for the leaves.
Once I had this done, I wanted to find the perfect paper and cardstock base. The gorgeous papers in the All About Autumn 6x6 paper pack to the rescue! I used Wild Wheat for my base, which compliments the paper and the sunflowers well. The middle strip under the focal image is the back side of the paper. I wanted more of this beautiful paper to show, so I trimmed the sunflower image to 3-1/4 x 4-1/2.
