World Cardmaking Day! (WCMD)

 Hello and happy Sunday,

Yesterday was World Cardmaking Day and I took the day off from unpacking, to attend two online events. The Stampin' Up! event was streamed live, and it was a fun way to spend a couple of hours. We got to make 3 cards, along with the presenters, as well as learn how our concept artists design stamps, dies and papers for us.  It was so interesting to see how an idea comes to fruition. The presenters used 3 stamp bundles, and since I didn't have all 3, I decided to use the techniques they showed, but only used the first bundle that I owned.  The Cottage Rose stamp set (#159040) and the matching Cottage Flowers Dies (#159047) were used on all 3 of my cards. By the way, this suite also has some beautiful designer series paper called Abigail Rose (#159037) as well. 

The happy birthday card is a combination of stamped images and colored with our Stampin' Blends markers.  We also cut out some florals with the dies, and finished it off with a few Opal Rounds embellishments (#154289)

Our 2nd card is a smaller size base of Fresh Freesia card stock. They showed the technique of blending a background so you get a light, airy look.  I used Fresh Freesia and Mint Macaron inks. I colored the flowers with our Stampin' Blends.

Our final card was the watercolor technique.  We stamped the leaves using Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake card stock. Then using black Memento ink, stamped the floral image, cut it out with the matching die, and used our ink pad and our watercolor pens to dip the brush into the lid of the ink pad. This technique works best on thicker cardstock, and we used our Shimmery White (#101910).
